Maersk Broker Agency Trainee Programme Outline


The Maersk Brokers Agency Trainee programme is a two-year education in both theoretical and practical shipping.

The practical part of the education will primarly take place at the Maersk Broker Agency offices in Fredericia, Kalundborg and Copenhagen which are approved as practical educating offices by International Business College - Kolding Fredericia Middelfart.
 

The respectively theoretical and practical elements of the programme consist of following:

 

Theoretical education

The theoretical education takes place at IBC International in Esbjerg, Denmark. The theoretical education consists of 4 modules:
 

Module 1, Introduction

The first module is of 1 week and is an introduction to the shipping business where the trainees will learn general terms and conditions of the business.

 

Module 2, General Shipping

Second module is for 2 weeks and give the trainees a broad and common insight to the means of transportation in shipping.

 

Module 3, Tramp Business

Third module is for 2 weeks. The module focus on the solutions of transport for tramp business.

Module 4, Dissertation

Fourth module has two dissertations of 1 week each

  • The dissertation liner trade gives the trainees thorough knowledge to the use of the means of tranportation, types of freight, judicial conditions, freight agreements and procedures, technical terms, rates, insurance and documents.

     

  • The dissertation Maritime Law educates the trainees about Danish Maritiame Law and related international rules and conventions.

Practical education

Concurrent with the theoretical education the practical education of Ship Agency takes place with the operation of the Maersk Brokers agencies in Fredericia and Copenhagen.

Approximately 6 months into the education the trainees are expected to take part in the call service of the office.
